Workforce Development Organizations working with UBEC and the Network include:

The Utility Industry Group (UIG) is an industry workforce development consortium created by EEI and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to address the need for skill standards in the utility industry. The goal is to develop a sector-wide system of skill standards and certification that will encompass the essential work performed in the industry. This system will reorganize the way the industry operates to make it more efficient in this changing environment. Worker selection, training and retention will become easier, resulting in a number of benefits for the industry. The following associations are participating members: American Public Power Association, Edison Electric Institute, Independent Electrical Contractors, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, National Electric Contractors Association, National Joint Apprenticeship Committee, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, National Utility Contractors Association, and Utility Workers Union of America.

The Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (PETE) is a non-profit organization established in 1989 to link the technical resources of the U.S. Departments of Labor and Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Science Foundation, other federal and state agencies, utilities, other employers with community colleges to assist in the development of curriculum and programs to encourage more students to pursue studies in engineering, environmental sciences and other high skilled professions. PETE's mission is to facilitate energy industry-education partnerships to meet the education and training needs of the energy sector, to promote environmental technology transfer, to foster the participation of underrepresented minorities and women in energy sector and to enhance the nation's economic development and international competitiveness.
